I tuoi disegni del cortile dovrebbero essere materia di studio obbligatoria per ogni membro della AIA. Non ho alcun dubbio sul fatto che il cortile non sia altro che il primo di altri trionfi lavorativi come architetto di fama locale, nazionale e sempre mondiale.
Tra tutte le persone che abbia mai conosciuto, tu sei quella che più si avvicina all’essere un virtuoso, oh così virtuoso, dell’architettura, capace di creare una bellezza sensuale e una chiarezza intellettuale di significato attraverso il più puro dei mezzi plastici. Tu hai forse realizzato, più di chiunque altro della nostra generazione, una tenace dedizione alla perfezione nella forma architettonica tridimensionale come idea. La tua asserzione la forma segue la forma’ corregge sostanzialmente la forma segue la funzione’. Non ho dubbi che, man mano che la tua enorme mole di lavoro diventerà meglio conosciuto, tu emergerai come la più vitale figura dell’architettura del nostro tempo. Questo libro sarà visto come un grande servizio per la nostra cultura. I have no doubt that as your enormous body of work becomes better known you will emerge as one of the most vital figures in architecture of our time.
